Philosophy as Learning Leader
Maximizing student achievement by asking the foundational question in every decision in front of me, "What is best for students?" Leadership means making decisions with the students at the center, and not based on popular past decisions. Having a focused plan that everyone can understand and communicate through their own work pays dividends to see the results more quickly. Taking risks, confronting challenging situations in a courageous manner, and making mistakes can turn into opportunities for future success; these are all indicators of a strong leader who ensures future success of the entire learning community. In the same vein, noticing the wins and celebrating them is a part of keeping a climate healthy and maintaining healthy relationships to increase achievement for our most prized asset-our learners.
As an instructional educational leader, I value building relationships in order to see leaders within who can elevate their colleagues' capacity in the organization. I am transparent, and try to model professionalism with clear communication, opportunities to listen and serve as a guide to build trust and collectivism through the complex work we are charged with doing.
My passion lies with my WHY: IMPACT THROUGH CONNECTIONS. In both my personal and professional life, I notice this WHY playing out daily. With this complex work in Education, strong partnerships and communication are key. I make connections among my colleagues and provide necessary conditions for them to collaborate in solving problems and improving practice. I make connections for parents/guardians, and students in ways to support their learning experience now and in their future ready life. Likewise, as learner myself, I make connections through my professional learning to the work at the building level to increase relevancy and renewed commitment to the pillars or big rocks.
